Scottish kilt makers may turn to Inuit to skirt seal ban
23rd Sep 2010
The EU ban on seal fur coming from Canada was great news. Seal fur is, unfortunately, the most popular fur used for sporrans. Now we hear more claims from the sporran and kilt industry of trying to source their seal fur from Inuits - which the EU ban does not affect. The sporran industry lied before the ban about how their seal fur was coming from Norway - it wasnt. And now more convoluted attempts! More retailers and makers are switching to fake-fur now and there's no need for using real fur. Read more about it - except that this news report didnt really research their facts - we are holding a sponsored walk on the 2nd Oct, not a protest or a march and it has nothing to do with seal-fur sporrans!

Here’s more info and a sample email for you to send to them.
